Bioimpedance body analysis
Segmental bioimpedance body analysis is carried out with the Tanita MC 780 MA body analyzer. This special analyzer includes superior technology with triple frequency scanning. The Tanita device allows for the evaluation of body fat, muscle and water distribution on each segment, being able to detect intracellular and extracellular water, as well as measure visceral fat.
The analysis is important for setting out actual goals, finding the optimal nutrition solution and for the accurate monitoring of progress.
Resting metabolic rate
Testing the resting metabolic rate through the indirect calorimetry method, using Q-NRG, is a test with high accuracy. It is a non-invasive method which provides precise information related to the necessary caloric intake of each patient.
Weight control and, particularly, weight loss are achieved in different ways from one person to another. There are many factors which influence weight control: food habits, the level of physical activity, sleep quality, alcohol consumption, food quality, the level of hydration etc. But… the first on the list is always the resting metabolic rate!
Basing the nutrition plan and nutrition counselling on a precisely evaluated resting metabolic rate is important for setting the correct goals and expectations and, implicitly, for maintaining motivation throughout the weight loss process.
Nutrigenomic investigations
Nutrigenomics is the branch of nutrition which explains the variety of responses that various individuals or populations have to the application of the same diet. Nutrigenomics explains how different food components can affect gene expression by amplifying their expression or, on the contrary, by gene suppression.
Nutrigenomics has direct applications in the prevention on many diseases. Obesity is one condition where nutrigenomics can help significantly. Knowing which nutrients and foods have a positive or negative impact, we can control its onset or manifestation.
Functional study of the colon microbiota
The human microbiota consists of trillions of cells, including bacteria, viruses and fungi. The microbiota in important for nutrition, immunity and for its effects on brain and behaviour. Disturbing the normal balance of the microbiota leads to the onset of chronic diseases, obesity, depression etc. The functional study of the colon microbiota is recommended especially for those who want to act to protect their health, who suffer from chronic fatigue, have digestive issues, systemic inflammatory diseases or autoimmune diseases.
NEUROPSOT test
Anxiety and depression are often linked to a serotonin deficit, the so-called “happiness hormone”, but may also be the expression of an excess of adrenalin or glutamate. Lack of motivation, inability to focus and fatigue can be caused by the secretion of an insufficient quantity of dopamine, noradrenalin or cortisol. Premenstrual syndrome may manifest as a consequence of a GABA deficit, a neurotransmitter which is considered the body’s natural sedative, also involved in the prevention of overstimulation and the regulation of blood pressure. DHEA, also known as the anti-aging hormone, is directly responsible for the symptoms specific to pre-menopause and menopause.
The most recent lab techniques allow for the exact quantitative evaluation of the levels of these neurotransmitters and stress hormones. This way, existing imbalances are identified and the premises for a targeted treatment are laid out in order to eliminate the causes of the listed symptoms.
The main advantage of this approach is the avoidance of premature introduction of anxiolytics, sedatives, antidepressants or hormonal substitution treatments.
Which symptoms are an indication of an imbalance in neurotransmitters and stress hormones?
- irritability, anxiety, depression;
- fatigue, exhaustion, burnout syndrome;
- sleeping problems;
- lack of motivation;
- difficulty concentrating, mood swings;
- learning and memory problems;
- being overweight, difficulty losing weight;
- diabetes, craving sweets;
- premenstrual syndrome;
- symptoms specific to pre-menopause and menopause;
- headaches, migraines;
- constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome.
The NEUROPSOT test measures the level of neurotransmitters and stress hormones based on a urine sample and a saliva sample.
The results of the test on the basis of which chronic stress can be diagnosed are accompanied by post-test recommendations for configuring a tailored treatment to reestablish the balance of neurotransmitters and stress hormones: naturopathic treatments, adaptogenic substances, neurotransmitter synthesis cofactors, essential oils, vitamins, minerals, micronutrients and amino-acids, probiotics.
